MBTA bus kiosks; really, why bother?

If you think I was mad I had to wait 30 minutes for a Route 66 bus, you’re right. Fortunately, I had something to focus my ire on.

These bus kiosks are useless. You couldn’t fit under them, if you tried. Apparently, they’re built in such a way to protect the beautiful ads, not people.

Sometimes, it even leaks on the inside.

Photos of the Salvation Army / Liberty Mutual building project

Last week, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company announced it was planning on building a 25-30 story office building at the corners of Columbus Avenue and Berkeley Street, in the South End / Back Bay neighborhood of Boston.

Below, some photos. Click on images to enlarge.

The location is currently the site of buildings previously owned by the Salvation Army and Benjamin Franklin Smith printing company. These two buildings will be torn down, most likely.

Also included are a couple photos of the current headquarters of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as well as the corner building currently the site of the Grill 23 restaurant. This building, at 330 Stuart Street, is known as the “Salada Tea Company building” because that’s who built it.

The Pink Palace – Boston Common men’s restroom to become restaurant?

Will a men’s “comfort station” on the Boston Common become the site of a new restaurant?

Boston Council President Michael Ross has proposed that a rundown out-of-use men’s restroom located near the center of the historic Boston Common be leased out to a restaurateur who will renovate (and, perhaps, expand) the building, turning it into a restaurant.
