Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Life of a City website.

We are looking for news and photographs. The only requirement is that the content be original and that it be about Boston (actually, that’s two requirements, I guess). The only other requirement is the standard “you will not post anything defamatory, known to be untrue, libelous, or hateful content”. Details on what you can and can’t do can be found in this site’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

What you do with your photos or written content after you post it here is entirely up to you. We reserve or hold no rights. We will not reprint your content elsewhere or use the photos for other purposes, like, we won’t try to sell them or anything.

You should be aware, however, that, this being the the Internet, what you post here may very well end up appearing on other websites. People who would do that sort of thing are known euphemistically known as “assholes”.

If you are interested, please send us an email with your contact information and, if you’d like, a link to your website where we can see some of your creativity.

Once we’ve both agreed to abide by the rules, you’ll be given Author access so you can post content. Your content may be subject to revision, but will be checked solely for spelling and truthiness and you will you have complete control over deciding whether or not you want to post the content. And, you can request having it taken down at any time.

If you like, you can be given a Page all to yourself where all your content will appear along with a link to any other site you have – say, a Flickr page or online journal (what used to be called “blogs” until that word became passe).

And, yes, these are non-paying, non-contract positions. You will not be an “employee” or an “independent contractor”. You will be freelancing, with the emphasis on “free”.
